Lime

The sky lately has been grey, day after day.
It keeps raining. Not the kind of rain that pours and clears, but the kind that lingers, that will not stop, leaving the air damp and heavy.
This is when I reach for lime.
The scent arrives crisp and clear, carrying something like fine, dancing bubbles in the nose. Sharp and sour, and somehow it makes you want to smile — as if, however heavy the day, it is worth giving yourself one small joke.
Have you ever watched bubbles rise? They come up from the bottom, one by one, drifting lightly upward, then vanish into the air.
Bitterness works the same way. So does pain.
They arrive, stay a while, and then they leave. All that weight is only ever a moment.
Lime grows in the tropics, used to the heat, used to the rain. But it never complains — it simply, quietly, gathers all that sunlight into its own peel. When you need it, one gentle press releases the brightness it kept.
Even on a rainy day, there is room to dance. Inside bitterness, a little sweetness is hiding too.
It is not pretending the bitterness away. It is looking for something worth smiling about, even inside it.
The rain always stops eventually. And you — you already learned, somewhere in the rain, how to shine on your own.
Grounded in the present, spoken through scent.
