Kuromoji grows in the mountain forests of Japan, its bark marked with dark patterning, as if nature itself had written something onto the trunk.

Its scent is clean and clear, citrus, floral and woody notes woven together, like drawing a deep breath in the middle of a forest. In Japanese tea ceremony, kuromoji wood is carved into the pick used for wagashi sweets, its fragrance clearing the palate before the first taste.
