Shiso

In Japan, shiso is served alongside sashimi; in Korea, it wraps grilled meat; in China, it accompanies crab — across Asian tables, it is nearly indispensable.

Li Shizhen wrote in the Compendium of Materia Medica: "Su relaxes and unfolds, moves the qi and harmonises the blood — hence its name, Su." The very name means to stretch out, to awaken.

Crab is cooling by nature, shiso is warming, helping the body dissolve that coldness. Pairing crab with shiso isn't a random custom — it's wisdom passed down from our ancestors. What a single leaf does is exactly this: revive.

When you feel stuck, simply let yourself revive, slowly. There's no need to rush.

Grounded in the present, spoken through scent.
