Wash it off, and set out again

Sometimes when you get home, you don't want to do anything else — you just want to turn on the shower and let the water run over the whole of you.

Not because the body is dirty, but because everything feels so heavy.

Lavender's name comes from the Latin lavare — to wash.

The ancient Romans bathed with it. Gattefossé used it on his own burns.

Once the burns healed, he didn't stop there — he kept researching, and coined the word "aromatherapy."

In truth, every wash is never only about being clean.

Washing clothes is so you can put them on and go out again tomorrow,

tending a wound is so you can walk again.

When you feel tired, go and wash it off.

Tomorrow's version of you will feel a little lighter, and a little lighter is enough to keep walking.

Grounded in the present, spoken through scent.
